This is an archive of Telluride Theatre's August 21–22, 2026 Burlesque Buffet announcement. The performances have passed; the program, menu and event terms below describe that announcement.
Burlesque Buffet, presented by Telluride Theatre’s professional burlesque troupe The House of Shimmy Shake, takes over the Historic Sheridan Opera House August 21 and 22 for a food-themed celebration of femininity, humor, spectacle and the wonderfully weird.
And this one really is dinner and a show.
VIP Table Seats were advertised with a multi-course tasting menu prepared by local chef Graeme Charles of Telluride Sleighs & Wagons, with each course accompanying the evening’s burlesque performances.
Come hungry for more than just food. 😉
The House of Shimmy Shake returns with a mid-summer twist on Telluride’s traditional Burlesque Week, promising a “delicious and nutritious” evening of food-inspired theatrics.
Expect playful, irreverent and unapologetically off-the-wall performances — very much in keeping with Telluride Theatre’s long tradition of creative, unexpected productions.
It’s part dinner party, part theatre and part only-in-Telluride night out.
The advertised VIP Table Seat tasting menu was prepared by Chef Graeme Charles:
Local assorted breads
French butter with herbs, flaky salt and edible flowers
Blackberry mojito mocktail
Lime and mint foam
Glass noodles and vegetables
Ginger and garlic ponzu
Coffee-rubbed New York strip
Vanilla bourbon demi-glace
Lobster bisque
Drawn butter topper
Peas and carrots
Sautéed wild mushrooms
Strawberry ice cream sundae
Chocolate sauce
Whipped cream
Sprinkles
Cherry
Because obviously a burlesque buffet needs an encore.

VIP Table Seats included the tasting menu; balcony seats did not include food. The announcement asked table-seat purchasers to disclose severe dietary allergies or restrictions during checkout, stated that voluntary substitutions could not be accommodated, and excluded alcohol from the ticket. These are historical terms, not current purchase instructions.
Telluride is known internationally for skiing, festivals, mountain scenery and luxury real estate — but part of what makes this town so compelling is its deeply creative, slightly eccentric personality.
Theatre, music, film, visual arts and a willingness to embrace the weird all coexist with outdoor adventure and small-town community.
And somehow a gourmet tasting menu paired with burlesque in a historic opera house feels completely appropriate here.
For buyers exploring Telluride Real Estate, these are the less tangible things that often turn Telluride from a beautiful place to visit into somewhere they can imagine calling home.
With the Sheridan Opera House right in the heart of downtown Telluride, the advertised Burlesque Buffet paired a summer evening of theatre with an optional VIP tasting menu.
