Telluride Lodging and Air Update: February 16 - 22

Are you planning a trip to the breathtaking Telluride soon? Whether you're a seasoned visitor or a first-time explorer, staying up-to-date with lodging and airfare trends can make your experience even more seamless. Here's a comprehensive update on what to expect in terms of lodging and air travel for the upcoming week in Telluride.

Lodging Update:

As the snow-capped peaks of Telluride continue to draw visitors from around the globe, it's essential to keep tabs on lodging availability. Total destination occupancy for the next two weeks is currently 13% lower compared to the same period last year, standing at 61%. Despite a slight decrease in occupancy, the average daily rate (ADR) has seen a 4% increase, reflecting the enduring allure of this picturesque destination.

Presidents’ Day weekend, a popular time for skiing enthusiasts, is expected to see peak occupancy at 72%, albeit slightly behind the previous year by 5%. However, the full holiday week demonstrates a more optimistic outlook with occupancy down by only 8% year-over-year (YOY) at 68%. This uptick in occupancy suggests a promising trajectory, especially considering last week's report where occupancy lagged by 14%.

Looking ahead, the remainder of the ski season is pacing 6% behind 2023, with an occupancy rate of 56%, albeit with a 1% increase in ADR. Notable trends include an 18% decrease in occupancy during the week of March 10, contrasted by a 45% increase in occupancy during the week of March 24, attributed to the Easter holiday. The first two weeks of March are anticipated to showcase the highest occupancy rates for Spring Break, promising an energetic atmosphere in Telluride.

Air Update:

Ease of access is paramount for travelers, and understanding air travel trends is crucial for planning a hassle-free journey. Following a softer than normal booking period in January, winter overall is pacing 5-7% down YOY. Despite a slight downturn, there's optimism in the air, quite literally, as February and March continue to pace off 5-7%. Although there's been a lower arc through President's week, there's anticipation for a stronger finish around the early Easter period.

For those still contemplating a visit, now is the time to seize the opportunity. With 40% of March still available for booking, there's ample room to secure your spot amidst the winter wonderland of Telluride. Spread the word to fellow snow enthusiasts - Telluride beckons with its pristine slopes and unparalleled beauty.
