The 46th Annual Telluride Mushroom Festival returns August 12–16, 2026, bringing mycologists, scientists, chefs, artists, foragers and mushroom enthusiasts from around the world to the San Juan Mountains. Since 1981, this beloved Telluride tradition has explored the remarkable world of fungi through science, food, art, music and a community that takes its mushrooms seriously—but rarely itself.

The Telluride Mushroom Festival brings together leading voices in mushroom science with curious newcomers, experienced foragers, cultivators, chefs, artists and devoted mycophiles. Programming explores mushroom identification, cultivation, medicinal applications, psychedelic research, decriminalization, ecological restoration and the many ways fungi influence the natural world.

Saturday brings one of Telluride’s most wonderfully eccentric traditions: the Mushroom Parade down Main Street.

Festivalgoers appear in elaborate mushroom hats, handmade costumes and fungi-inspired creations before dancing through downtown against the rather unfairly beautiful backdrop of Telluride’s box canyon.

The parade is followed by the legendary Puff Ball Costume Dance Party, bringing together music, costumes and the playful community spirit that has defined the festival for decades. Both events are included among the experiences accessible with a general-admission festival pass.

Passes and Special-Event Tickets

General-admission passes provide access to a broad range of festival programming, including presentations, keynote events, general-admission cooking demonstrations, outdoor workshops, concerts, the poetry show, Mushroom Parade and Puff Ball.

Certain dinners, specialty workshops, pre-festival programs and special forays require a separate ticket in addition to a festival pass. Capacity is limited at individual venues, and a pass does not guarantee admission to every presentation or workshop, so arriving early is advised.

A limited VIP Festival Pass is also available, offering priority entry, advance workshop and foray selection, a special-event or dinner ticket, festival merchandise and a tax-deductible contribution supporting the event.
