Happy Bluegrass week, festivarians! The summer solstice is ushering in the 51st annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival on Thursday, but you can already feel the buzz around town. We hope you have your dancing shoes handy for a weekend of good tunes!

The gondola will have extended hours this weekend for the festival - It will be open until 2 a.m. nightly through Sunday. In addition, the Meadows bus loop will run until 3 a.m. and Dial-A-Ride will remain open until 2:30 a.m.


The FirstGrass Concert kicks off the wonderful week of music ahead with a performance by Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass and Big Richard at Sunset Plaza tonight, and there will be live music at Floradora this afternoon as well. The Sunset Music Series officially launches next week and you can check out the full schedule here

If you're not attending Bluegrass (or even if you are!), other great shows to check out this week include The Black Canyon Boys at Telluride Arts HQ tomorrow evening, the Music on the Green Summer Concert Series with Kat Wright at Reflection Plaza and the Summer Songwriter Series with Scott Stewart at Telluride Arts HQ on Friday, Warren Gilbreath for a free show at the SHOW Bar patio next Wednesday, and plenty of other after shows around town all weekend long. 

If you're a foodie (or enjoy a good glass of wine), be sure to swing by the free wine tasting at the Mountain Village Wine Merchant on Wednesdays or the Food and Wine Pairing Class with Eliza Gavin at 221 South Oak on Thursdays.

Other events worth checking out include Mind Blown's summer return to The Peaks Resort & Spa on Friday, Movies Under the Stars on Saturday with a showing of "Up" (please note this will be held at the Conference Center Plaza), the Telluride Farmers' Market on Friday on South Oak Street and Market on the Plaza Wednesdays in Heritage Plaza. Plus, don't miss Heritage Nights at the Telluride Historical Museum on Tuesday - this week will feature leather stamping with Randy Crawford.
