Telluride Peak Sheet: September 10–16, 2026 | Fall Color, Live Music & Local Events
Via Telluride Tourism Board

It definitely looked a little bit different in town this morning... the leaves are starting to turn! With an expected color peak earlier than normal, we are excited to see the mountainsides covered in gold soon. When you're not watching the leaves change, there are plenty of events and activities all week long to enjoy.
You can keep the film fest vibes going through Friday with After Telluride Film Festival at the Telluride Conference Center. There are two films per night, and the schedule and ticket information can be found here.
If music is more your jam, you're in luck - there's live music almost nightly this week. The last Community Concert of the season takes place Thursday with Telluride Chamber Music at the Telluride Science & Innovation Center, the Telluride Gold Kings play the Sheridan Historic Bar on Thursday, Sammy Brue will be rockin' Reflection Plaza on Friday for Music on the Green, and The Meditations perform at the Sheridan Opera House on Friday night. You can also catch the Balourdet String Quartet on Sunday at the Sheridan Opera House, Vana Liya at The Alibi on Thursday, the Augment Summer Music Series with Charlie and the Leatherheads on Tuesday in Elks Park, live music at Alloy Kitchen Thursday through Sunday plus Sunday Rehab on the pool deck to close down the weekend.
Other entertainment this week includes Gaiascope Saturday Sessions, which feature interactive art and a live DJ in Heritage Plaza (the art is viewable nightly), the Creative Exchange on Thursday at Telluride Arts, Telluride Theatre's Fringe Project returning with La Familia Music Group on Saturday at the Sheridan Opera House, Wine and Watercolor at La Piazza on Tuesday, and the Telluride Dinner Party fundraiser (happy 60th birthday, Telluride Museum!) on Thursday at the Telluride Historical Museum.
Additionally, be sure to cheer on the runners for the Imogene Pass Run on Saturday, check out the Lone Tree Cemetery Tours on Friday at (you guessed it) the Lone Tree Cemetery, or take a historic walking tour on Tuesday or Thursday with the Telluride Historical Museum. Today is the last Market on the Plaza (thanks for an amazing summer season!) but you can still shop local at the Telluride Farmers' Market on Fridays this summer.
Fall in Telluride: One of the Best Times to Be Here
There’s a brief window each September when Telluride seems to exhale.
The busiest weeks of summer begin to fade, mornings turn crisp, trails grow quieter, and entire hillsides change from green to gold. For many of us, it’s one of the most beautiful times of the year in the San Juan Mountains.
It’s also an interesting season for anyone considering Telluride Real Estate. Visiting in the fall gives buyers a chance to experience neighborhoods and properties at a different pace—whether you’re comparing downtown Telluride, Mountain Village, or looking farther afield at homes and land throughout the surrounding region.
If you're researching telluride homes for sale or searching online for homes for sale Telluride CO, remember that the listing itself is only part of the equation. Understanding sun exposure, seasonal access, ski connectivity, neighborhood character, rental considerations, and how a property truly fits the way you want to use it can be every bit as important as bedrooms and square footage.
At Mountain Rose Realty, Anne-Britt Ostlund brings over two decades of experience in the San Juan Mountains to helping clients navigate telluride real estate and the broader Southwest Colorado market with local knowledge, perspective, and highly personalized service.
