Volunteer Trail Work Days in Telluride: Help Care for the Trails We Love
Telluride’s trails are a huge part of what makes living here so special—and keeping them in good shape takes more than admiration from the trailhead.
This fall, the Telluride Mountain Club is hosting two volunteer trail work days, giving locals and visitors a chance to spend time outside, meet fellow trail lovers, and help care for the routes we all enjoy throughout the San Juan Mountains.
Projects may include clearing debris, improving drainage, and general trail maintenance designed to keep local trails safe, sustainable, and enjoyable for years to come.

There are two remaining volunteer trail work events scheduled for fall 2026:
Deep Creek Trail

Deep Creek Trailhead
Deep Creek is one of the Telluride area’s classic trail systems, and this evening work session is a great opportunity to give a little back to the landscape we spend so much time enjoying.
Cross Mountain Trail
Sunday, October 11, 2026
9:00 a.m.
Cross Mountain Trailhead
The October work day heads to Cross Mountain Trail, another spectacular corner of the San Juans and a fitting place to spend a fall morning doing something useful for the local trail system.
What to Bring
Volunteers should come prepared for hands-on outdoor work.
Bring:
Water
A snack
Closed-toed shoes
Sunglasses
A long-sleeved shirt
Pants
Trail projects can vary depending on conditions, but volunteers may help with debris removal, drainage improvements, and general maintenance.
