What’s Happening in Telluride & Mountain Village: August 20–26, 2026
Late August in Telluride is doing what it does best: live music, mountain adventures, farmers markets, arts, community gatherings and a few wonderfully Telluride-only events mixed in.
This week's Telluride PEAK SHEET runs August 20–26, with plenty happening on both sides of the gondola. Whether you're visiting, lucky enough to live here, or exploring Telluride Real Estate and wondering what everyday life actually looks like, here's what to put on your calendar.
🎶 Music, Arts & Nightlife
Thursday, August 20 kicks off with several options around town.
Salon Night runs from 5:30–6:30 p.m. at Telluride Arts, followed by the SummerShow Series featuring Deltaphonic from 6–8 p.m. at SHOW Bar.
Also Thursday, the Telluride Gold Kings take over the Sheridan Historic Bar from 6–8 p.m. — always a good choice if you'd rather spend your evening with live music in one of downtown Telluride's most iconic gathering spots.
On Friday, August 21, head up the gondola for Music on the Green with Brooke Lee, from 5–7 p.m. at Reflection Plaza in Mountain Village.
Friday evening also brings Noche de Luz, from 6:30–10 p.m. at the Telluride Science & Innovation Center.
And for something decidedly less ordinary, the Burlesque Buffet returns to the Sheridan Opera House on August 21 & 22 from 8–10 p.m.
Saturday night, Wax Monkey plays at The Alibi at 9 p.m.
🥕 Friday at the Telluride Farmers' Market
Friday in Telluride means Oak Street.
The Telluride Farmers' Market runs from 10:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. on August 21, with local produce, food, flowers, makers and plenty of familiar faces.
There will also be live music from Donavan Dailey from 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
It's one of those simple Telluride rituals that perfectly captures the lifestyle here: walk downtown, grab lunch, listen to music, see half the people you know and somehow lose an hour longer than you intended.
🏔️ Telluride Mountain Run Weekend
For those who prefer their weekend entertainment with considerably more vertical gain, the Telluride Mountain Run takes place August 22 & 23 in Telluride Town Park.
This year's weekend includes the new Hill Climb, sending runners and hikers from downtown Telluride to the summit of Gold Hill — roughly 4.5 miles and 4,000 vertical feet.
It's a serious mountain challenge and a very Telluride way to spend the weekend.
🚵 Get Outside
The Mountain Biking Meet-Up takes place on August 20 & 25 at 4 p.m. at San Sophia Station.
Ride the gondola up, meet other riders and get out on the trails while the high-country summer is still in full swing.
If you'd rather explore Telluride on foot, Historic Walking Tours are offered August 20 & 25 at 1 p.m., departing from the Telluride Historical Museum.
Even if you've spent years here, Telluride's mining history and preserved Victorian architecture have plenty of stories worth rediscovering.
✨ A Little Telluride Magic
Mind Blown returns to The Peaks Resort & Spa in Mountain Village on August 21 & 22 at 7:30 p.m.
The intimate magic experience has become a fun alternative to the usual dinner-and-drinks evening — and a good reminder that Telluride's entertainment calendar tends to include a little bit of everything.
🍷 Sunday Rehab & Weird Wine Wednesday
Need to recover from Mountain Run weekend?
Sunday Rehab with DJ Yak takes over Alloy Kitchen in Mountain Village on August 23 from 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
Then Wednesday gives us another local favorite: Weird Wine Wednesday at The National, running August 26 from 4:30–9 p.m.
We continue to support any event that makes Wednesday feel less like Wednesday.
🛍️ Wednesday in Mountain Village
Mountain Village has a full afternoon and evening lined up on August 26.
Market on the Plaza runs from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. at Heritage Plaza, giving you another opportunity to shop local vendors and enjoy the Village Core.
Then at 7 p.m., Heritage Plaza hosts Gaiascope Opening Night.
Down in Telluride, Water in the West takes place from 5:30–7 p.m. at Wilkinson Public Library — a fitting topic for anyone interested in the environmental issues shaping life throughout the Mountain West.
Why We Love Weeks Like This
This is one of the things that's difficult to explain about Telluride until you've spent real time here.
A single week can include a mountain race, live music, historic tours, a farmers market, art events, mountain biking, magic, wine, community conversations and an evening concert — all within a town you can walk across in about 15 minutes.
That's part of the lifestyle behind Telluride Real Estate.
People searching telluride homes for sale aren't simply buying access to skiing or a beautiful view. They're buying into a community where there is almost always somewhere to go, someone to see or something happening — while some of the best days still involve doing absolutely nothing more complicated than getting outside.
At Mountain Rose Realty, Anne-Britt Ostlund has spent over two decades living and working throughout the San Juan Mountains. If you're exploring homes for sale Telluride CO, considering Mountain Village or simply want to understand what life here really looks like beyond the property listings, we're always happy to share the local perspective.
